LIVING SELFISHLY OR SELFLESSLY?

  • Now the children of Reuben and the children of Gad had a very great multitude of cattle: and when they saw the land of Jazer, and the land of Gilead, that, behold, the place was a place for cattle; The children of Gad and the children of Reuben came and spake unto Moses, and to Eleazar the priest, and unto the princes of the congregation, saying, Ataroth, and Dibon, and Jazer, and Nimrah, and Heshbon, and Elealeh, and Shebam, and Nebo, and Beon, Even the country which the LORD smote before the congregation of Israel, is a land for cattle, and thy servants have cattle: WHEREFORE, SAID THEY, IF WE HAVE FOUND GRACE IN THY SIGHT, LET THIS LAND BE GIVEN UNTO THY SERVANTS FOR A POSSESSION, AND BRING US NOT OVER JORDAN. AND MOSES SAID UNTO THE CHILDREN OF GAD AND TO THE CHILDREN OF REUBEN, SHALL YOUR BRETHREN GO TO WAR, AND SHALL YE SIT HERE? (Numbers 32:1-5)
  • We will not return unto our houses, until the children of Israel have inherited every man his inheritance. (Numbers 32:18).
  • And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren (Luke 22:31-32).
What is your Christian Life? Are you “selfish” living in your blessings? That is dangerous. You have to be able to help others also get into their blessings. If you are blessed materially, don’t forget, your life is not yours alone. There are other people you have to extend your material blessings to, other than that your blessings is empty. Do you have any spiritual gifts? You also have to make sure other people benefit from your gifts. No one is an island—God blesses us both materially and spiritually, so we will be a blessing to others.

If you have read the scriptures above, you will get the lessons in it.
1. Instead, of marching forward together to Jordan, the Children of Reuben found a comfort zone and they want to dwell there so they will not go to Jordan. They were being selfish. They did not want to go to Jordan and fight with their brothers. They said: “and bring us not over Jordan”

2. When Moses refused their request, they now agreed that they will get involved with their brothers to go to Jordan and after Israel has conquered Jordan, then they will come back to inherit their “comfort zone”. That is what we are meant to do—help others achieve their dreams when we find our dreams.

3. Jesus prayed for Peter, so that he will be able to help others stand strong.
Make it a point to live looking beyond yourself.

FAITH, FEAR AND OUR ASSIGNMENT

  • ...My soul is exceeding sorrowful unto death... And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee; take away this cup from me: nevertheless not what I will, but what thou wilt.(Mark 14:34-36)
The scripture above is Jesus Himself. At the point of fulfilling His assignment---death for humanity's sins---fear gripped Him. Faith and Fear(Unbelief) seems to dwell together. Wherever you find faith, you will notice fear also lurks around.

Now Faith is not the absence of fear at all. We build up faith because we want to drive away fear. If there was no fear, there will not be a need for faith. Just like antibodies figthing antigens in our body,Faith becomes necessary when fear stirs itself up.

Faith is “sense the fear but do it anyway“. Got dreams? Feeling scared? Well, the fear factor is needed to activate faith in the fulfillment of your assignment. Go ahead! Feel the fear but do it anyway. Let faith reign in the midst of fear

WHAT IS YOUR IMPLEMENTATION RATE?

  • “...be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves (James 1:22)
How long have you been a Christian? How many messages have you heard? How many conferences have you attended? The number of years you have been a Christian and the number of conferences you have attended really does not matter.
The most important thing is if you have been implementing all the things you have been taught since you became a Christian and all the messages you have heard in all the conferences you have attended. I want you to honestly examine your life to see if "you are really a Christian". Yes, you might have accepted Christ, but are you of any use to His kingdom? What do you do with the words you hear? I pose the question again: WHAT IS YOUR IMPLEMENTATION RATE?

I might sound arrogant, but last year 2012, I decided not to attend any conference until I have started living out and implementing all the things I know and have been hearing. I truly dont need any new open doors. I have realised that God opens doors one at a time. When you step into one, he opens the next door. You have to start steping into the ones that have already been open. Step out and be a doer of the word and God will bless you.

ARE YOU AVAILABLE FOR LEADERSHIP?

  • “...the Lord has sought out a man after his own heart and appointed him leader of his people (1 Samuel 13:14NIV)

The moment you are born, you automatically enter into training for leadership. You're that leader God is looking for to make a difference in your generation. You're a leader; you don't necessarily have to lead a large organization to count yourself a leader.

Leadership is influence, and everbody at a point in their life will carry influence. Note that one day, we will all fall into one of these categories: Father or Mother, Husband or Wife, Father-in-Law or Mother-in-Law, Brother-in-law or Sister-law, Brother or Sister, Friend or Colleague. I have used the everyday life relationship to let you know that at every point in your life, you will carry influence.

Can God count on you to fulfil his agenda on earth? “A man/woman after God‘s own heart to be appointed a leader...“ Are you available?

THE SECOND COMING: A GOOD REMINDER ON OUR CALENDER

1 John 3

  • 2:Beloved, now are we the [children]of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
  • 3:And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.

Jesus‘ second coming: it's not a message we hear often, probably we hear it once a while at a funeral or an evangelistic crusade. Sometimes the regular messages we hear seems to suggest we are here to stay forever. We generally call them “earthly relevant messages“, but I personally believe the most “earthly relevant message“ is the message of His second coming. His second coming, a message that will cause me to love, treat my fellow human with dignity, strive to live an honest life, stay away from sin, be a responsible man etc is surely relevant on this earth.

As relevant as we want to be on this earth, you and I agree that we are not here to stay, we are on a pilgrimage travelling to a country whose builder is God.“...we desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called [our] God: for he hath prepared for [us] a city.“ (Hebrews 11:6).

One day it will happen--- “For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.“ (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17).

John accurately suggests how we should live if we believe in His second coming: “...every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself...“ With faith in Christ, we can't live our lives anyhow. Jesus also in a parable in Luke 19:13 issued a good command: “...Occupy till I come.“ MARK YOUR CALENDER AND LIVE WISELY.
