- 2:Beloved, now are we the [children]of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
- 3:And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.
Jesus‘ second coming: it's not a message we hear often, probably we hear it once a while at a funeral or an evangelistic crusade. Sometimes the regular messages we hear seems to suggest we are here to stay forever. We generally call them “earthly relevant messages“, but I personally believe the most “earthly relevant message“ is the message of His second coming. His second coming, a message that will cause me to love, treat my fellow human with dignity, strive to live an honest life, stay away from sin, be a responsible man etc is surely relevant on this earth.
As relevant as we want to be on this earth, you and I agree that we are not here to stay, we are on a pilgrimage travelling to a country whose builder is God.“...we desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called [our] God: for he hath prepared for [us] a city.“ (Hebrews 11:6).
One day it will happen--- “For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.“ (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17).
John accurately suggests how we should live if we believe in His second coming: “...every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself...“ With faith in Christ, we can't live our lives anyhow. Jesus also in a parable in Luke 19:13 issued a good command: “...Occupy till I come.“ MARK YOUR CALENDER AND LIVE WISELY.
